Heading into Summer 2021

Friends of NCRD (North County Recreation District) is pleased to report a successful Spring Plant Sale and to announce our Summer Flower Sale, beginning mid-July.

The Spring Plant Sale raised nearly $1,400 to support NCRD’s programs and projects.  Thank you to the Flower Committee Chair, Patty Rinehart, who organized the self-serve sale, and to the volunteers who helped set up the sale several good weather days a week.  A special thank you to Judy and Chung Lee at the Little Apple for the use of their parking space and to the cashiers who collected money.

Over the past year, Friends raised and distributed over $10,000 to NCRD for youth/fitness/aquatics scholarships, the theater lobby/ bathroom addition, pickle ball courts, Covid protection and diversity inclusion projects.  Proceeds from the Spring Sale will help with the purchase of durable outdoor furniture for everyone’s use and pleasure in the NCRD Garden.

(Fall 2020)

In 2008 Friends of NCRD organized as a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization and dedicated its charitable support to North County Recreation District.  The Mission of Friends is to raise and distribute funds which support NCRD’s programs and projects.  In the 2019-2020 fiscal year alone, Friends of NCRD raised and distributed $23,404 to NCRD’s Youth, Fitness and Aquatic programs, the New Pool, the Performing Arts Center, and Pickleball Courts.

The major source of Friends fundraising is flower sales, featuring summer dahlias, spring bulbs, and holiday Amaryllis.  Get-Away Weekend raffles, the sale of engraved seat plaques for the Performing Arts Center, and a spring 2019 rummage sale added to funds raised over the past year and a half. We’re proud to report that, despite Covid constraints, sales of summer dahlias from July through September 2020 raised over $5,000.  Friends of NCRD continues to provide scholarships to the Youth, Fitness and Aquatic programs during these difficult times.  We are dedicated to supporting our community’s children, families and seniors by promoting the recreational, social and physical well-being of the entire North Tillamook County.

Without volunteers none of this could happen.  Friends of NCRD welcomes new members and volunteers to help support our mission.  Become a sponsor of Friends.  Attend a Board meeting.  Join the Board.  Volunteer to help with a fundraiser.  Be part of the support for North County Recreation District, one of our community’s most valuable resources.
